what is the proper procedure to drain a staph infection from the labia?!

Question: What is the proper procedure to drain a staph infection from the labia?
The doctor performed a procedure on me that was very painful. He told me that the procedure would be very painful. I told him that I couldn't take that type of pain and that I didn't want the procedure. The nurse then informed me that I needed to get the procedure done because it would help with the pain that I was experiencing. Then she proceeded to ask me how did I have three children? I could take the pain it wouldn't be long and it really helps. She had seen some people come in with boils the size of a golf ball. The nurse also stated that the only hard part would be to feel the stick from the needle, and the medicine would burn really bad. I then agreed to have the procedure done and at the same time scared to proceed because the doctor is showing no remorse to my reactions of pain. He stated that the procedure would hurt because it was a highly infectious area.(very Rude) I then tried my best to be brave and get this procedure to avoid more infection the whole reason I visited the emergency room. As the doctor started to perform the procedure, I asked him to wait so I could calm myself he then immediately stuck me with the needle flushed the medication into the area and I then screamed tensed up and instantly grabbed the area to comfort the excrutiating pain. The doctor then placed the needle on the tray picked up the scapple, and I asked your cutting right now? He said yes, He told me to move my hands from the area, place my hands under my buttocks, then he said better yet interlock your fingers and put them behind your head. I then told him that I couldn't take it. He proceeded to cut a small incision that I could feel I instantly started to feeling the tearing pain and my legs started to shake uncontrollably the doctor grabbed the surgical scissors and began to dig in the area as I screamed no! he then stopped told the nurse that I was to eratic. I told the doctor that my chest was hurting and I was having a hard time breathing, the nurse assured me that it was only the anesthetic because I was so upset, the doctor stated that he couldn't finish instructed the nurse to cover the area with a 4 by 4 and walked out without packing the area? The nurse came back about five minutes later told me that she wouldn't hurt me she just wanted to get a swabb of the area and she promised that she wouldn't hurt me. by the time the nurse touched the area there was no feeling at all. she was able to squeeze the area without any reaction from me. But the doctor stated earlier in the procedure that the area wouldn't numb because it was highly infectious. The nurse then stated that she would try to squeeze some of the purse out of the infected area. She told me that she would ask the doctor to come back and pack the area. Which he did not, he came back into the room to tell me that he was prescribing doxycycline and that I absolutely couldn't breastfeed my baby for twelve days. That was his only concern. I feel that I was treated indifferently? and I have been having chest pains since this incident, as well as the area is infected even more. I am really needing advice on what to do?

The doctor might be impatient with any type of person who won't accept what he thinks needs to be done. I've seen doctors like that and even though they might be smart enough, they are difficult to be comfortable with. As has been said, the infection you have is VERY SERIOUS. He should have given you lots more instructions that just to take those pills. You've got to wash your hands thoroughly with lots of soap and very warm water before and after checking the area, and using the restroom. If you touch that area at all, you can spread that infection to any other part of your body or anyone else's very easily. I know this because my daughter just had a staph infection on her leg and it spread all up and down her leg. Then she didn't take all her pills and it came back. When I took her to the doctor again, (he's a very good, sweet doctor), he said to her, "Do you want to keep your leg?" Staph infections are very serious. I think the doctor should have given you some heavy duty antibiotic ointment to put on the spot several times a day. We were told to take a chlorine bath a couple of times a week to get rid of the staph, (because I now have it from touching something she touched--probably the keyboard). The doctor said take a bath of 1/2 cup clorox in 8 inches deep of water. Staph is difficult to get rid of. Clean your bathtub out and all of your faucets and handles in your house and keyboard with clorox water. The area of your boil is very, very tender. I'm glad the nurse was more gentle and sensitive to you. You could always write a complaint to the hospital administration so that doctor can be talked to.

Get off yahoo answers and go to the ER if you're having chest pains.

1. go to a different doctor if you truly think that this one is not helping you.
2. you are either a gigantic baby and should just put up with the pain, or you should speak with your (new) doctor about pain management and work out a solution (systemic pain killers, anesthesia, hypnosis/psychological help) because that infection is VERY serious and should be eradicated immediately; especially because that is a sensitive area of your body.
3. DON'T drain it yourself if you are trying to minimize the pain (concern about spread of infection to your blood/inguinal triangle should also be a concern). Even though it may require pain management, it sounds bad and you should get professional medical treatment.
The docycyline should alleviate it (and the pain), and you should go to the doctor immediately if it is not gone after the full antibiotic regimen. DO take ALL of the pills.
4. Express breast milk after the 12 days, discard (i'd wait a whole week after taking all of the pills and making sure the infection is gone before breastfeeding).
5. Figure out what may have been the reason you got the infection in the first place; make sure you change habits or practice some kind of management of your health.

lots of school like ALL doctors
