Lead poisoning?!

Question:

Lead poisoning?

I been working on an old engine for my mini bike that is covered in white paint. Ive been sanding it off for about 4 hours and the dust from the paint is floating around, I'm outside though. Could I get lead poisoning just from that short amount of time in contact with the paint dust? The engine is about 40 years old also I have this weird feeling in my mouth. Am I just paranoid or is there a serious problem here?

SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY or I will report a violation and if your just looking to gain points, violations make you lose a lot of them.

Answers:

Just a SWAG, Thats about cut off for lead paint They started the lead abatement movement in the 60's, I think they had it stopped by the late 60's

I was under the impression that type paint was only used on wood and plaster not on metals.

The major lead issues were lead from newspapers getting into drinking water and the first glass of drinking water thru lead pipes

Are you wearing a dust mask? you should be with any
paint to keep the fine particles out of your lungs.
