Question: Strep throught- contagious anymore?

i wanna go to the movies with my friends, but one of them just had strep throat. the movie is in two days, and my friend started taking antibiotics today. i am going on vacation in about 4 days, so i cant risk getting sick. is it safe to hang out with my friend if hes taken antibiotics for a few days? without getting me sick? thx

yep answer #1 is correct, antibiotics only take about 48 hours to get the infection under control enough that its no longer contagious. you will be fine. if anything just take the extra precaution of keeping your hands washed and dont pick his nose or kiss him or anything gross like that! go to your movie and have fun!

i've had strep several times, my kids have all 4 had strep at least a couple times and usually ive had plans very close to that time requiring me to ask how long it would be before we couldnt make anyone else sick!

Yes, after twenty-four hours on antibiotics, strep throat isn't contagious anymore, so forty-eight hours should be plenty. :)
