How can I have herpes if my husband didnt cheat?!

Question: How can I have herpes if my husband didnt cheat?
Is there any possible explanation as to how i, in the last 2 months, contracted genital herpes if my husband says he hasnt cheated on me?
What are other ways this virus spreads?
I just had a baby 2 months ago and didnt have it then.. They test you, obviously. Yesterday I was diagnosed with genital herpes. I have not cheated. I have an appointment with a specialist in two weeks but i cannot wait that long for answers.
Is he lying to me? Please, i need answers now. I am on the verge of an annulment and taking or 2month old and diapering.

Transmission of Oral Herpes
Oral herpes (usually HSV-1) has been detected in both the saliva and blood of patients with active oral infections. It is the most prevalent form of HSV, and infection is most likely to occur during preschool years. BUT ,Oral herpes is easily spread by direct exposure to saliva or even from droplets in breath. Skin contact with infected areas is sufficient to spread it. Transmission most often occurs through close personal contact, such as kissing. In addition, because HSV-1 can be passed in saliva, people should also avoid sharing toothbrushes or eating utensils with an infected person.

Transmission of Genital Herpes
Genital herpes is most often transmitted through sexual activity, and people with multiple sexual partners are at high risk. HSV, however, can also enter through the anus, skin, and other areas.
People with active symptoms of genital herpes are at very high risk for transmitting the infection. Unfortunately, evidence suggests about one-third of all HSV-2 infections occur during times when the virus is shedding but producing no symptoms. In addition, only about 10 - 25% of people who carry HSV-2 actually know that they have the infection. In other words, most people either have no symptoms or don't recognize them when they a appear
To infect people, the herpes simplex viruses (both HSV-1 and HSV-2) must access the body through broken skin or a mucous membrane such as inside the mouth or on the genital area. Each virus can be carried in bodily fluids (such saliva, semen, fluid in the female genital tract) or in fluid from herpes sores. The risk for infection is highest with direct contact of blisters or sores during an outbreak Clear to brown /yellow discharge with or no odour is sure sign
Treatment.: .Valtrex (valacyclovir) can keep outbreaks to a minimum, a good diet also plays part ,together will trying to keep stress down,& plenty of rest.

cooker is absolutely right, herpes is not transmitted through intercourse only, and yes HSV-1 can infect the vulva/penis.
Dont panic... its not the end of the world.
I am not saying he has or hasn't cheated on you, i am saying both scenarios are possible.
You can actually give it to yourself from your lip to your vulva, I have a friend who was a virgin, who actually did just that...
just know that a lot of whats said on mainstream tv about herpes can be sensationalistic at best.

There is no other possible ways this can be spread. Sorry to say but the only way you can catch genital herpes is oral or anal sex, and if you didn't do anything with anyone else it's obviously your husband cheating on you. He says he isn't cheating on you but how do you know if he's lieing or not?

herpes can lay dormant for years. you cant be tested and know you have it until you get an outbreak. so yes it is possible that you contracted it before you met your husband and it now showed up. talk to your doctor.

if you know you haven't cheated, then the only logical explanation is that your husband did and he's lying

He's probably cheating on you.

Are you SURE they tested you for genital herpes when you were pregnant? Most standard STD tests don't include tests for herpes at all, so there is a chance you were infected and just never had an outbreak until now.

You did not say HOW they diagnosed you. Unless they did a viral swab of a visible sore within 24-48 hours of an outbreak, you could have a FALSE POSITIVE test result.

IF they diagnosed you visually--don't trust it. Doctors are notoriously bad at diagnosing herpes by sight.

IF they did an IgM test--forget about it! NOTORIOUSLY terrible at diagnosing herpes. The IgM blood test is used by a LOT of doctors but is bad--it often confuses past infections of mono, chickenpox, and Epstein-Barr as genital herpes.

IF your husband has HSV-1 (cold sores), and IF he performed oral sex on you since delivery, there is a chance you became infected with HSV-1 (oral herpes/cold sores) of the genitals that way. He, in fact, could have HSV-1 of the genitals himself. Often, men do NOT exhibit any symptoms of herpes.

IF your husband has HSV-2 (genital herpes), again, it is possible that he has been infected and simply never had an outbreak. Remember, STANDARD STD tests do NOT include a test for HIV or for herpes! So chances are any testing he previously took may have come back "clean," (yours, too, perhaps), BUT you were never even tested for herpes. You have to specifically ASK for those tests and pay extra for them--or you will not receive them. Same for doctor's offices and clinics!

I have no idea why they are sending you to a specialist. Herpes is sooooo prevalent that all you need to do is get a prescription for antiviral medications (about $4 per month at Walmart) and start taking them. You absolutely, positively do NOT require a specialist for treatment for herpes!

I'm enclosing a link to a Herpes Handbook that I believe will be VERY helpful for you. Please pay close attention to the "diagnosis" and "testing" processes. This is NOT spam, is FREE! Produced by one of the top clinics in the country--even has a video you can watch there.

I'm enclosing another link to Shut Up And Post, a site specializing in herpes. You can join the message board ANONYMOUSLY and post any questions you have--and get honest answers from people with the disease, including those in the medical field. GREAT resource--free, NOT spam!

The third link carries you to the front page-you don't sign up for that one--can just read a lot of stuff you'll want to know.

It's going to be OKAY!
