My boyfriend gave blood yesterday (he has given blood before and was fine)?

He gave blood at a blood drive after lunch and was fine until the nurse took the bag off. he suddenly felt as if he was going to loose all control of his bowels and urine he was also extremely nauseated dizzy and sweating profusely. He actually pushed through the nurse to get to the bathroom and ended up stumbling everywhere (he said he felt like he was extremely drunk) he was confused, could not see, and could not control his motion-then found himself in the bathroom on the toilet drentched in sweat 20mins later as he came too. WHy did this happen?? he then came home and slept for almost 3 hrs

I wouldn't advise him to give blood again. He could have had some kind of reaction from it or maybe just an anxiety attack of some sort. I myself was told I could give blood by my Dr. I then was told by the nurse when I went to give that since I have mitra-valve prolapse of the heart it might make my heart have to beat too fast to make up the blood they had taken and I should not give probably. I went by what the Dr. said and gave. I was just drained of energy and went home and slept 4 or 5hr. Also might have something to do with his blood sugar. He should go get checked and speak to his Dr. about what happened to be safe.
