o yah, i do have a glucose meter but i only use it if i feels low and those strips are so expensive! we have to pay the full $50 for a pack because our insurance won't cover it unless i am a diagnosed diabetic. so i have to use them sparingly.

Answers:

If you are still blacking out and experiencing spells like the one you describe, then you, most definitely are NOT eating the "proper amount of carbs and protein" at least not for YOU. Your diet needs to be individualized to your needs. IT may take some experimenting to see what you need to do. Some good rules of thumb:

Always pair carbs with protein when you eat them.

Spread your eating out over the day instead of just 3 meals, try 6 smaller meals/snacks.

Try Glucerna bars for snacks. They help to even out blood sugar in between meals and help avoid the peak highs that occur after ingesting other snacks that are inevitably followed by the swings to the low side.
