Math teacher just got diagnosed with breast cancer?!

Question: Math teacher just got diagnosed with breast cancer?
on monday, my math teacher got diagnosed with breast cancer and came back to school on wednesday, and told us she had breast cancer. me and my friend are getting her flowers and want to make her a card and letter, but do not now what to say regarding her beast cancer. please help. any ideas?

Answers:

A card is a nice idea.

Tell her you are both thinking of her - really that's all you need to say. And sign it with your love.

I strongly advise against mentioning prayer - it's unlikely you know your maths teacher's religion, or whether she has any religion.

I also advise against mentioning a positive attitude, or keeping positive or anything of that nature; when I had breast cancer, it made me feel guilty - and therefore worse - when anyone said this, because I just couldn't be as positive as people were urging me to be. And there isn't a scrap of evidence that a positive attitude makes any difference.

Same goes for assuring her she'll be fine - her doctors won't be able to tell her that at this stage, so she knows you don't know.

Keep it simple. Send your love and best wishes and tell her you're thinking of her.

Anything you do or say will really be appreciated. Humor is always good - I liked the answer with hope + prayer...etc.

As a side note, the chemo medicine gives you a nasty aftertaste...a small bag of mixed hard candy with strong flavors may be appreciated once she gets into treatment.

A card is a great idea. If this teacher takes time off for treatment in the future, try sending food or a fruit basket. It is very difficult when a person receives a cancer diagnosis. She is probably in shock!

Hey Mrs. *****. Were sorry to hear that your sick. But were praying for you :) Here's a math question for you. Hope + Faith + Prayer + Happy Attitude - Negative Feelings x Love & Support = ? Answer: A healthy teacher! We love you! Get better soon! :D

Just say that you are thinking of her and maybe offer any help that she may need.
