What's wrong/ How do you know if there are fluids in your lungs?!

Question: What's wrong/ How do you know if there are fluids in your lungs?
I've been sick for nearly two weeks now, and it's getting worse. I initially thought it was just a cold, but now anytime I cough, specifically while I'm laying down, it sounds almost like popcorn popping after I cough? I know that's not normal, I shouldn't hear anything like that, I mean, I never have before.
Now it's getting hard to catch my breath after one of these coughing fits I've been getting more and more frequently.
I'm only 16, turning 17 in a couple months. I've always been relatively healthy and relatively active. I've never had any problems with something like this before. I've never actually had ANY problems before, aside from migraines and broken bones...

Can anyone possibly give me an idea of what exactly this could be, and if it's a possible sign of fluids in your lungs?

If you had fluids in your lungs, you would be wheezing, coughing, have hard time breathing, and sore chest, which is pretty much how you described your symptoms. You could possibly have pneumonia, at any rate, you need to be seen by a doctor immediately, and have chest x-rays taken. Don't wait around any longer, you must seek immediate medical care! Good luck!
