Is my optician alarming me unecessarily?!

Question:

Is my optician alarming me unecessarily?

On the advice of my Doctor, I went to see an optician . I only had my eyes tested last year and had new glasses. She (the optician) has referred me to the doctors for an ASAP appointment at the hospital. I must admit I am a little worried. It could be AMD ( age related Macular disease) or something worse. Am I worrying unecessarily?

Answers:

No, she is probably just being cautious, as she wants you to see an eye specialist pronto she obviously thinks something is up. That could be something that needs attention urgently, but isn't terribly serious or irreversible. It would have been more honest of her to tell you why though, she has probably caused you more worry by not telling you what it was. Just see what the eye specialist has to say.
