Higher fat levels cause insulin resistance. This is due to hormones (excess production due to the adipose tissue).
Candida? as in Thrush? is more frequent in women with Insulin resistance and diabetes.
Insulin resistance can be an early warning sign of Type II diabetes on the horizon. If you have reason to think you are susceptible, please go and see your Doctor for testing.
I think its the sugar that causes insulin resistance
A higher percentage of adipose fat (belly fat) on your body causes insulin resistance, but it does NOT inhibit insulin in the way that the fool in the video you provide a link for says. That's why SOME type 2 diabetics are able to come off medications when they lose just a little weight from around their abdomen.
Insulin resistance does cause your body to not be able to utilise [utilize, if you're one of my American cousins] glucose from the bloodstream. It also causes ... or should that be 'forces' ... your pancreas to produce more insulin ... specifically so your body's cells can utilise the glucose (sugar). This is why some type 2 diabetics need to go onto medications. (There are various types of medications that help a type 2 diabetic. Some of these stimulate the pancreas to produce more insulin, and some enable the body's cells to become more accepting of the insulin that's already being produced. Some have a combination effect.)
