You could try one of the many over the counter cleanser/degreasers, most are based on peroxide, Panoxyl is a typical example. If this fails the next step is to see your GP for topical or oral antibiotics. Avoid tetracycline and oxytetracyline as they are awkward to take and not very effective, minocycline or lymecycline are better.

GP for more years than I care to remember

I would advise going to the doctor and getting some acne preparations on prescription.
Not only would they be more specific, they would also be limited to £7.20.

There are plenty of over the counter preparations which you can buy for around the same cost as an NHS charge.
Active ingredients include:
Benzoyl peroxide is an anticomedogenic which removes keratin overgrowth (which causes pores to become blocked). It is also believed to have some antibacterial action against P. acnes.
Examples: Brevoxyl cream (4%) 40g, Quinoderm (5%) 50g.
Nicotinamide is not an anticomedogenic but it works by reducing inflammation within acne spots caused by P. acnes and reduces the symptoms which goes with it (pain, redness, pus etc).
Example: Nicam (4%) 60g.

I would recommend giving Benzoyl peroxide atleast 6 weeks to begin working and Nicotinamide around 8 weeks.
I hope this helps.

I tried everything under the sun for Acne and not a thing helped I even went so far to get laser treatment (biggest waste of money!) but I got roacctuate from the hospital there's differed opinions on it but it cleared mine I went on it in august of last year when I was 16 I just finished 2 weeks ago and although I'm 17 now it's cleared up and doing brill! Have a look into it! Well worth a try in my opinion

the one i use is pretty good dries acne over night is called Zapzyt 10%benyzoyl peroxixe
also try some natural remedies like putting aloe vera plant on your face at night(open leaf on the middle and put gel on face every night) this is great for scaring and also helps to dry acne.(wash face in the morning)

I used Benzoyl peroxide for my severe acne and, it was helped me lot, just try it.

£300 crazy. Can be cured with few pounds. You don't need those two zeros. Read this

From sweet sixteen to fabulous forty, acne or blemish is one very frequent problem faced by people of both the sex. A normal, growing blemish-free skin from impurities is desired by everyone. It enhances the personality of an individual and makes him/her feel more confident and presentable. When we notice red boils or break-outs on our face or any other part of our skin we immediately react by squeezing them or breaking them. This leads to either expansion or patches or marks and sometimes causes infection too. Otherwise we tend to consult the dermatologist or use chemical rich creams which frequently pose unwanted effects.

Vitamins A & B are very important for the health of your skin. Vitamin A deficiency can cause acne or blemish etc. Vitamin A will strengthen your skin. Vitamin B is great for acne. The only Vitamin that has an anti-inflammatory effect is Vitamin C. It will help with healing and protect your immune system. A study conducted at Duke University provides evidence that Zinc is an important antioxidant supporting healthy skin. Among the findings: Zinc protects against UV radiation, enhances wound healing, contribute to immune and neuropsychiatric functions, and decrease the relative risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease. So, in addition to the antioxidant benefits Zinc offers to our skin, zinc is also important for the proper functioning of the immune system.
