I think i have thyroid cancer someone please help?!

Question: I think i have thyroid cancer someone please help?
Ohk im 15 years old, im a freshman. i went to get a physical to play soccer and i told them about how my heart always beats really fast and i sweat alot so they said i might have hyperthyroid so they took blood and the tests came back as the complete opposite hypothyroid. then they said i might have thyroiditis where it switches back and forth from hypo to hyper. but they have to run more tests and for me to come back in two weeks, so until then they gave me a prescription for levothyroxine. but my mom says they dont know what their talking about and that i cant take it until they find out whats wrong with me. but yesterday night when i swallowed i noticed it feels like theres a lump on the right side near my thyroid, i looked it up about thyroid cancer and it said hoars voice, lump, difficulty swallowing, and a cough unrelated to sickness. and i have all those. im scared i have thyroid cancer. i dont know what to do. i cant say anything to my mom because she thinks im a hypercondriac she wont believe me

I used to have that problem. It felt like there was something stuck in my throat all the time. It was so annoying. It turned out to be GERD, which is like acid reflux. I do have nodules on my thyroid but they aren't a big deal. I would just try to stay calm and let the doctors figure out what is wrong with you.

Thyroid cancer in a 15 year old is very, very rare. People think they have every disease ever when they see an internet list of every possible symptom. Tell your doctor, but don't think too much about it.

You're going back to see the doctor in two weeks, right? Take the levothyroxine until then and see if it helps your symptoms (since that is what it is designed to do).

You need to tell someone, try telling your mom. If she doesn't believe you then talk to a counsoler at your school, or some other adult you trust.

Look up online Max Gerson and his institute if you do have cancer.

Mention the lump to your doctor at your next visit. Two weeks isn't going to hurt. You can also ask that your doctor look at your thyroglobulin level. This is a protein that is used in making thyroid hormones, but it can also be a tumor marker. You might end up getting a test like an ultrasound anyway.
The problem with symptoms for thyroid cancer is they all apply to tons of diseases! There is a chance, of course, but you could also have a cold or allergies or something like that.
If you or your mom is confused you can call the doctor's office. There should be a nurse able to answer your questions or forward them to your doctor. If you want to take the medication, you should really talk to your mom and potentially a nurse or your doctor with your mom to come to an agreement. Edit: Again, two weeks shouldn't hurt, but the point is to see if the levothyroxine helps. If you are truly hypothyroid, it should improve your symptoms within those two weeks. Levothyroxine is just thyroid hormone replacement - if your thyroid isn't making enough hormone it gives you the rest.
The thyroid is a weird organ, and thyroiditis is a legitimate diagnosis. It's an autoimmune disease in which your body attacks your thyroid. However, in thyroiditis you can have different antibodies present. Some will attack thyroid tissue or hormones or proteins used to make thyroid hormones - causing you to have hypothyroidism. Another can attack the hormone that tells your thyroid to make thyroid hormone, thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). What these antibodies do is block the receptors in your thyroid that recognize the TSH hormone so the TSH can't get the message to your thyroid. But, because the antibodies are blocking the receptors your thyroid still gets the signal to make thyroid hormone and since they are stuck there, there's no control to tell it when to stop, so you get hyperthyroidism. Depending on what's going on you can get flares of each. Obviously, you should wait for more tests to see what is really going on, but I thought if you and your mom understood the potential diagnosis you could make a more informed decision.
