Answers:

The symptoms that you present with are very strong indication of mono. However, only your doctor can determine if it is mono or something else.

First of all if you have mono there is really no medication you can take to cure it. It has to run its course which could take up to 6 weeks or more. If there is a secondary infection, which happens, your doctor may prescribe antibiodics to keep that infection in check.

Secondly, REST and SLEEP is of utmost importance for someone with mono. Mono primarily effects the spleen. If you do not rest, if you participate in vigorous activities such as sports or hard work and lifting during the time that you have mono, you could very easily injure your spleen. If it is injured, you may well need surgery and have it removed.

A simple blood test is required to diagnose mono. This must be ordered by your physician and it should be done if there is any suspicion of mono.

There is another very good way to determine whether or not you have mono. It is truly foolproof. The glands in your neck will become swollen during mono (along with a terrible sore throat) but there are special glands that swell that typically do not swell at any other time except with mono. These "special" glads are located on the back of the neck. Under your ears in that area is a bone on each side of course. Usually right under those bones you will glands that are enlarged significantly. These glands, as I said, usually do not swell except during mono. Check yourself out in that area.

Please, please, please see your doctor right away. And take it easy. The tiredness your feeling is your body telling you that you need to slow down, rest and get as much sleep as possible. What can be just a case of mono right now, if not properly taken care of, can turn into a hospital stay.

Good luck and God bless you.

General Symptoms of it are:
-A general lack of energy -fatigue
-loss of appetite -chills
-a severe sore throat -fever
-swollen lymph nodes in the neck area

Infectious mononucleosis is usually a self-limited, although sometimes prolonged, and often uncomfortable illness. While specific treatment is rarely necessary, the potential complications make it essential that people with this illness be under the care of a physician.
