Inconsistent Breathlessness?!
Question:
Inconsistent Breathlessness?
My father (60 yrs old) experiences inconsistent breathlessness usually in the late afternoon/evenings. Known health problem: high blood pressure (less than 1 year) and prostate enlargement (2 years). On medication for high blood pressure (atenolol or Tenormin 50mg/day) for past 9 months. Typical day: sleep 9pm, wakes up 4am, 5.30am start driving cab/taxi for 6 hours, jogs for 30~60 min at 5pm (3 times per week), surfs internet at night for 3~4 hours at a stretch. ECG results normal, diagnoses normal from 3 different GP's. Mild water retention observed in area above ankles. Prostate enlargement meant 3~4 visits to toilet during sleeping time - but able to fall back into sleep. Usually feels better after prolong rest/sleep. I'm suspecting fatigue (not enough rest especially the eyes) plus side effect of Tenormin. Is there any similar experiences out there which may suggest something else? Many thanks in advance.
Answers:
Get him to a doctor as soon as possible.
It may be a number of things, but with the water retention around the ankles, it sounds like his heart is not working properly.
It may be that, or a few other things, but get him to a doctor !!!
