I've been having panick attacks along with hyperventilating left and right,!

Question: I've been having panick attacks along with hyperventilating left and right, how can I stop these?
I went to the cardiologist cuz I thought it might be from a leaky valve or something so they did an echo and a stress test and everything was fine

Answers:

I'm 19 and have been suffering panic attacks for most of my short life so take comfort in the fact that you are not alone. You don't even need a rational reason to panic! You could be having the time of your life and BANG you're hit with a whopper! You struggle for breath, your chest muscles tighten, you can't feel the air in your lungs and your heart races and palpitates. You begin to sweat and feel dizzy and may or may not have the overwhelming urge to scream and/or run away even though you don't know what you're running from! Those, like myself, who suffer VERY bad panic attacks may suffer temporary paralysis where your whole body freezes, turns in on itself and your skin turns blue. It's all very scary but its just a messed up version of your inner fight or flight protective system which protects you when you're in REAL danger. How I get through it is I divert my thoughts super quick to think of ANYTHING but how I'm feeling when in a panic. I go outside for some fresh air, pet the dog or, what I find REALLY works for me is that I channel the nervous energy to my hands and twist and pull on an elastic band, string or squeeze a stress ball. You don't NEED medication, you just need to find the right diversions that work for you! Good luck xx =)

try to figure out why you are having panic attacks, I get the when people yell or when I feel like my life is speeding by, then when you pinpoint that just try breathing deeply and curling up in a ball?

Many people have good results with cognitive behavioral therapy for panic attacks.

If the medical doctor has checked you out, I suggest a counselor.
