help my son is really ill, but should i panic ?!

Question: Help my son is really ill, but should i panic ?
well my son is 14, nearly 15. He has been very sick all day today, he has been vomiting at least 4 times an hour for the past 8 hours, has been having diarrhoea for the past 4 hours, and has a very high temperature all over his body, but he says he is cold. He is very drowsy, and has been sleeping in between vomiting and excreting, for over 10 hours, and he has felt sick all day, but only started throwing up at midday, he did eat quite a bit of junk yesterday, because he was out with friends, he had a chocolate ice cream, a chocolate bar and a MacDonald, but that's it for eating yesterday, and this morning before he felt really ill he had some toast, so i doubt its food poisoning, or something food related, because its gotten to the point where he isn't throwing up anything, he is just bringing up stomach vile, or dry retching, but he has been expelling diarrhoea for a while now.

he has never been like this before so i have no idea if this is ok or not, i'm getting very worried, and i need to know if i need to get help, or its just sickness. The only time i have ever been this ill was when i had food poisoning, but i never had the diarrhoea and the high temperature.

i just need to know if there is something really wrong with him, or if its nothing to be too worried about.

thank you.

I really cannot believe you are still playing on the internet if your son is as ill as you claim! You've had all day to get him to a nurse or to take proper advice. It's an outrage.

If you son has a high temperature and is sleepy then I think you should get him to a doctor or the ER. or at the very least speak to a doctor about his symptoms. Yes you can get a high temp and diarrhoea with food poisoning but they can also be symptoms of other problems seek help as soon as possible

Get him to the ER / that much vomiting and such is an enormous fluid loss, he may need an IV to rehydrate him. Something major is wrong, could be a virus given the high fever but regardless, get ready, get him up and get him medical help NOW. All he needs are a t shirt and shorts and a blanket and get him into the car and out the door. NOW.

Hiya he could have a bacterial or viral infection (bug) If he has a extremely high temp can lead to a lot of problems (if that is the case admit him to hospital asap) But he does need plenty of fluids to combat dehydration through the sickness and diarrhea.

If hes not to bad then fluid and pain relief and plenty of sleep will do the trick.

Phone the emergency Doctor or get him to hospital now.

Please take your son to be seen by a doctor in emergency now.
If he cannot travel by car then please call an ambulance.
He needs medical help.
Good Luck

ring NHS direct, they will tell you what the best thing to do is. i hope he feels better soon.

Don't panic, he may have the flu or food posioning, neither one is serious.

Dehydration is a serious matter though and he needs to be treated for it right away. Go to an emergency room. They will give him an IV, lower his fever and possibly give him something to relieve the vomiting and diarrhea depending on the cause. If it's food poisoning they won't stop the vomiting because that is your body's natural reaction to get rid of a toxin.

Hello, sorry to hear your son is not well. To get to the point the MacDonald's could have possibly been bad you never know. and after all that vomiting he's got nothing left to bring up. So I wouldn't discount food poisoning.

Or another possibility is that he's picked-up a nasty virus.

In any case I would call out the doctor or take him to the hospital in the car or a taxi and get him checked out, in the meantime give him plenty of fluids. If I were you I would get my son to the hospital just to be on the safe side.
Hope everything works out, please let me know.
