Does anybody know what the Pegassis meds. do exactly?
My husband has been diagnosed with chronic hepatisis and has been told by the doctor to start on pegassis. The medicine sounds awful...(I live in victoria, Australia ) It includes lethargy sickness, hairloss...the list just gets worse...He is not sick, but his liver MAYbe. Is it worth it???? Please help.

As your doc. told to use pegassis ,then your husband was diagnosed hepa C
Treatment is with alfa interferon and rivavirin are the treatment choice for hepa C,pegylated interferon monotherapy offers an alternative to patients whom combination therapy may be a contraindication or who are intolerant of this therapy.
Alpha interferons, including,pegylated interferon cause or aggravate fatal or life-threatening neuropsychiatric, autoimmune, ischemic and infectious disorders. Patients should be monitored closely with periodic clinical and laboratory evaluations. Patients with persistently severe or worsening signs or symptoms of these conditions should be withdrawn from therapy. In many but not all cases these disorders resolve after stopping the therapy.
