is it possible that I can get aids? 10 points?!

Question: Is it possible that I can get aids? 10 points?
I delivered caesar salad. As I was eating i saw a sort a line in the lettuce and there was what appeared to be blood(it seemed that the cook's knife slipped and caused the knife to cut his/her skin). The lettuce was mixed in a souse with the rest of the salad. And i'm not sure if I didn't eat a random lettuce that had blood on it. My question is, could it be possible that I can get aids by eating blood :/?

Answers:

Zero risk. The HIV virus loses its infectious nature and quickly dies once outside the body. Even if this wasn't the case, your stomach acids would kill the virus after swallowing it. There has never been a documented case of someone acquiring HIV through food. This is why there are no work restrictions or special licensing requirements for HIV infected persons to work as cooks, food handlers, and waiters.

Anything is possible, although I'm sure a blood to blood transfer is much more contagious. Yet with all we know about having AIDS it doesn't seem that the Dr.s are 100% positive on WHAT & WHERE it comes from. I remember years ago they were "certain" that you couldn't contract it from dental procedures....then someone got it from their dentist. I would take the test and follow up tests if your pretty sure that it was blood! GOOD LUCK

You are not going to get AIDS from eating a salad. First of all, the HIV virus cannot live that long outside of the body and second the acids in your stomach would kill the virus before it had a chance to get into your bloodstream.

Very doubtful! The Aids virus has to be in a warm moist environment to live. I hardly think a salad is warm.
