Does lack of sleep cause dark circles?!

Question: Does lack of sleep cause dark circles?
I've heard mixed things. Some articles say it's the paleness of the skin that causes the skin under the eyes to look dark. Or the way you lay horizontally in bed can cause fluid to collect under there and cause puffiness and dark circles. I saw this guy at target today, he didn't look more that 25 if that. He looked so tired the circles under his eyes were almost a reddish color. Of course since he was so young it didn't cause him to look older. He didn't have the wrinkles to go with it or even the bags. So what would cause something like this in a person soooo young. I'm 42 years old and have to take meds to sleep, I feel like I'm getting sleep but I wake up tired and my eyes just look so tired. The lids always look heavy and I have some puffiness under my eyes and some darkness. I guess I'm obviously not getting good sleep. I always worry that people are going to think I look like death. Seeing this poor guy today made me think I hope I don't look that tired. I guess I feel my eye itself has a worn out look to it. And than the heavy lids don't help and also the dark shadows. I've tried to cut back on the sleep meds and it just makes me more tired and look more tired. So I guess I'm stuck with this problem for life. It's been going on for almost 2 years now. Sometimes I've felt as if I want to end my life. I can't even nap and when I'm sick the only sleep I get is at night when I take my meds. I can't just sleep like I used to when I was sick, like all day. Than I'd wake up feeling so much better. God, how I miss those days. Anyone who sleeps well I so envy you never take your sleep for granted.

Answers:

Stop taking medicine for sleeping . Dark circles will slowly vanish away. Sleeping pills actually doesn't give you real sleep , it keeps you almost unconscious for some time.
I know it is difficult to get sleep with out pills if you are addicted . But go without sleeping pills.
1. First 5/6 days you will not get sleep----feel terrible rest less.
2. You may have some fits (hysteria ) for some day . ( you can consult doctor)
But sleep has to come slowly, it is the natural process . If you have less sleep , don't try to get it force ably. All people don't get same amount of sleep . You have to be happy thinking that this much sleep my body require.
3. Exercise Like waking for a long time on grass bear footed , Yoga, & concentration may help you.
4. Please take my words very seriously, other wise , if you continue like that you have to increase you dose of pills also . you will not get sleep in same number of pills after few months.
So try to control now only.
