Diaper Rash After Sports (Teenager)?!

Question:

Diaper Rash After Sports (Teenager)?

I am 14 and I play tennis constantly. In the fall/winter/spring i play 4 times a week. However in the summer I go to a tennis camp mon-fri for 8 hours each day. And i get something like a diaper rash in the same area where a diaper rash is. Its not itchy, but in facts very painful. What should I do do treat/ prevent this and what is this certain rash called (im 99 % sure its not sweat rash...however if it is, then i guess i was wrong.)

Thank you!!

Answers:

When I was your age and playing tennis on a high school team, I used to get the same thing. Kids being kids, we used to call it "crotch rot" but it is nothing more than a sweat rash or as the other person said, maybe a friction rash. These both could translate to diaper rash if you were about 12 years younger.

The best thing you can do is to keep the area dry. If you sweat a lot from playing tennis, in that area of your body then you need to use some sort of powder to keep the area dry while playing tennis. Use a powder that has corn starch in it because it will absorb more of the moisture than normal baby powder or after shower powders. Use as much as you need but don't over do, you don't want to create a dust cloud every time you move.

I hope you play better than I did, I wasn't really all that good at it but I did enjoy it. I guess for my age and lack of experience I wasn't too bad but I couldn't afford to get a decent racket and such to really help me.

Use plenty of powder and have fun,

Good luck.
