Answers:

It can run in families, some genes make you more prone to some cancers. At 15 you are a low risk for anything, don't start smoking or use chewing tobacco, eat a low fat high veggie diet, wear sunscreen and sunglasses outside and keep your risk low, keep alcohol consumption low when you get older.

My wife is a colon cancer survivor. My mom and grandfather died of colon cancer.

My wife has done a lot of research and spoken to our state and federal (US) legislators.

She believes that if you have a family history, you should get checked by age 25.

She was 30 when she was diagnosed and treated and she almost died twice that year. Had she been checked as few years earlier, she wouldn't have had the complications and wouldn't be on disability now.

You need to be strict in your diet management and need regular screening at earlier age than of 40 cause colon cancer runs in family.
Must keep in touch with GI specialist.

* There are some cancers that are genetic (can be passed on from your parents).

* There is screening and testing you can do to identify if you may be suscpetible to a genetic cancer.

That is they are caused by a faulty gene that may have been inherited from your parents. Only 5-10% of cancers seem to be the result of having a faulty gene and these tend to be the cancers that affect older people.

Here's some more straighforward info about hereditary cancer and the testing for it: http://www.nowwhat.org.au/info/factsheet…

Hope you find this info helpful.

U may not belive me but ur situation is almost identical to mine, 5 years ago wen I was 15 , all my grandparents dies of cancer in space 18 month, my aunt had bowl cancer an I have ibs lol I also was worrying myself to be sick In some instances that I had bowl cancer coz of my ibs I was over reacting n found out that them sorts of cancers in people below 25 are nearly un heard of, they do exist but my doc sed cancer of colon an bowl in his 30 years practice he'd not seen in any one under 30. However I was still not convinced , an still thought I was going to die of cancer. Whatever u do never research illnesss online btw go to a doctor that's something that helps.

Truth is cancer is terrible but there is nothing u can do if u have it but u also need to think rationally , if u have a worry see a doctor just have a chat , cancer treatments are getting better every day also. I would recomend see a doctor though they will set u straight .

Me

Colon cancer runs in my family. I eat a high fiber diet. Whole wheat bread, grains and fruit and veggies. Stay away from red meats. IBS is usually caused by stress. Try and go for walks several times a week. At age 40, get a colonoscopy. The worse part is the prep, The Dr. will give you IV medication to relax you, and you don't remember the procedure. Just relax, technology has come a long way. If you eat correctly, and get your colonoscopy, you will be fine. My mom had colon cancer 27 years ago. She is now 84, and doing wonderful!
