Hello,

In addition to the above, the two following suggestions are more "medical:"

(1) You can get "2% salicylic acid lotion in alcoholic spirit" made up on a doctor's prescription. The mild acid works by dissolving the dandruff scales, and the alcohol keeps infection away and kills off the "P.ovale" yeast infection which is responsible for causing dandruff in the first place. It stings a bit when you first put it on, but it is fine when it has dried, (do not dry with a hair drier, alcohol is inflammable).

If you can't get this exact preparation, the following home-made equivalent also works well:

Mix:
Two-thirds white vinegar (i.e. 5% acetic acid, which is what vinegar is)
One-third Vodka (i.e. 40% ethyl alcohol, which is what vodka is)

Put in an empty cosmetic spray-bottle.
Spray generously on the hair and scalp at bedtime, rub in then pat-dry and allow to dry naturally, do not use a hair drier. Apologize to your partner for the vinegar smell, or apply perfume. Wash off the next morning and style hair as usual.

(2) Get some of this preparation from the doctor's:

Synalar Gel see here (click) http://www.doctoralia.co.uk/medication/s…

It's the "plain" synalar gel you want, not "Synalar-N" or "Synalar-C" gel, these two have extra additives.
Rub into the scalp at night, either after the acid/alcohol lotion, or alone.
Wash off next morning and style the hair as usual.

Synalar gel is a strong anti-inflammatory (anti-itch) preparation. Do not use on the face.
The gel is much better cosmetically, for the scalp, - it's not sticky, like an ointment or cream preparation.

Hope this is of some help.

Fortunately, it’s not too difficult to get rid of.
The difference between drinking 6 cups of water a day and 8 cups is incredibly significant. Studies have shown that if you’re even 2% dehydrated, your mental concentration goes down by 20%. The same applies to dandruff. If your body is fully hydrated, the chances of your scalp flaking are much lower. But if you’re even just 2% dehydrated, your scalp could start flaking, causing dandruff.
To get rid of dandruff, get in the habit of really hydrating your body. It’ll pay off in more ways than one.

Head & Shoulders “dandruff removal” shampoo, has helped many people get rid of dandruff over the years. It’s important to note that Head and Shoulders isn’t technically a dandruff “cure.” Instead, they eliminate the effects of dandruff for a few days up to a week.
If you use Head and Shoulders as your primary shampoo, chances are you won’t have much of a dandruff problem. If you stop using Head and Shoulders however, the dandruff will come right back after a week or two.

Teatree Shampoo / Conditioner. If you let the shampoo or conditioner sit for a little bit, the anti-fungal effects of Teatree will sink in helping you get rid of the dandruff.

Selsun Blue . . another dandruff shampoo

Dietary Cures: Dandruff is primarily caused by either dry skin or oily skin. By reducing the number of dehydrating, oily or fatty products you take into your body, you’ll be able to drastically reduce the flakiness of your scalp. A lot of dandruff users find that if they just eat fruits and veggies for 3 days, they experience no dandruff. This obviously isn’t sustainable, but is a good way to experiment with what works and what doesn’t. If you removed fried foods and fatty foods, drank more water and increased your fruit/vegetable content, chances are your dandruff will either go away or at least be drastically reduced.

Shampoo Often Real dandruff issues can take some time to build up. If you don’t wash your hair for 4 days for example, the dandruff will be much more significant than if you washed your hair every day. When you do wash your hair, scrape your scalp to get all the flakes out. That way, the flakes won’t fall out as you’re out and about.

These are some of the most common and most effective ways to get rid of dandruff. If you follow all these steps, chances are dandruff just won’t be an issue in your life anymore.

Seborrheic dermatitis is a skin condition that effects the scalp, face and upper-body. Symptoms include scaly or flaky skin that is itchy and red. It is believed to be caused by the fungus Malassezia furfur that is found naturally on peoples skin. The most common treatments for this condition are ketoconazole creams and shampoos coupled with oral fish oil supplements for Omega-3 fatty acids.

And I've also read that a vinegar rinse is good for your scalp. . . by applying 1 part vinegar to one part warm water and applying it after washing

I think you have Psoriasis. Mine started when i was in 5th grade & i'm 17 now. , my head would get really REALLY itchy, and i scratched so much it started bleeding. After a couple of months, i started getting white patches on my scalp. A first i thought it was dandruff, but its not. Its the flakes of the psoriasis, go to the dermatologist NOW. because it will only get worse.

I have it on my scalp, stomach, legs , arms and ears. I've lost alot of hair. Its sad. it really is.

HEAD AND SHOULDERS SHAMPOO! :D
