i went tanning once in college and while i waited in the room up front i read the information package given to everyone who tans, and this i what i learned:
A sunburn is caused by broken blood vessels in your skin and NO they will not turn into a tan. While your skin absorbs the UV rays it may tan and depending on the darkness of your skin, without protection, a burn will form on your skin. Any tan you develop after your burn goes away will be completely separate from your burn. (incidentally i do not condone tanning and have not done it since)
Of course everyone knows sun exposure will cause the skin to age quicker and highers the risks of developing skin cancer. If you have a burn try putting aloe vera on it, it does wonders for burns. Hopefully it will help it heal faster too.
