Yeast infecion or some thing else?!

Question: Yeast infecion or some thing else?
So on tuesday I started to itch then on thurseday I went to the hospital because I couldnt handle the itch. The doc.checked me out said it looked like a yeast infeccion he gave me one small pill and said that should do.it and.gave me no prescription. The nect day it was worse,.every day it gets more and more sore. Right now its really sore and its not on my lower vagina its all the way to the top now and its painfull. Allso I have yellow discharge at times it lookes greenish.
Why did the pill he gave me not work? Because maybe its not a yeast infeccion?
Should I go back to the hospital? ( I dont have a doctor)

Answers:

That definitely sounds like an infection.
I'd go to the doctor again and make sure you really get a prescription this time.

Unless the doctor did a vaginal exam and took cultures, it could be bacterial vaginosis which needs an antibiotic to treat it rather than a yeast infection. Obviously, you need to see a doctor again. But, you need to go to a family doctor, not the ER. ER visits can start around $750 and go up from there, depending on how many tests are done. A family doctor anywhere often runs $150-$200 for a clinic visit and you get the same care. You need to go to a family physician, not the ER which would be inappropriate use of the ER for a follow-up visit. Your discharge instructions given to you state "if not improved, see your family doctor". How on earth are you going to pay off a $2000 ER visit (if you go again), just to treat a vaginal infection of some sort? You could also get this treated at Planned Parenthood for a fraction of the cost of an ER
