You do need to give any details why you are off work if it is due to illness and the doctor's note covers the time of your illness. As long as it is medically covered, an employer does not have the right to know intimate details. You can tell them you would prefer this be kept confidential as it is a personal matter. If you can, let them know it is a short term situation so they know for planning purposes. Lying about something you do not have, just to say "something" can come back to haunt you later...and you do not want to burn any bridges.
