I have a bald spot about the size of a quarter...what is it?!?

I recently found a bald spot about a half inch away from where I typically part my hair. My doctor first said it was ring worm and had me put some cream on it. Now, he's unsure and wants me to wait three weeks and then see a dermatologist. The hair is starting to grow back, but it still kind of freaked me out (I'm only 24 and the spot is in an odd place to be balding!). Has anyone else had this?

i too am losing my hair but it is not in a circular shape. mine is coming out in lines very wierd. i see a dermatologist in august ( by then I may be completely bald) my family dr. says there are many types of alopecia. it may be stress or hormones. I hope you find out good news when you go to the dermatologist.
