In my grandmother's unit the older people, especially the old ladies, loved to fold towels and rags and washcloths, even if it was the same ones they had just folded. Getting them to do familiar things is soothing for them, if they feel useful and capable.

Good for you. Hard job.
I visited a place in California and each patient had a memory cabinet with small things brought in by family, friends to serve as reminders.
I found it quite moving and one of the lovely Mexican helpers was going through a collection with one lady who seemed to find comfort and pleasure from the little mementos.

One nurse organised Bingo, chaotic but fun.

Get some recordings(Audio) of old radio shows and or TV shows and they just love listening to them I think it stimulates their long term memory which is the last to go. I have seen it calm down several aggressive older people with late stage dementia.
