How can I find out where/how I got Hepatits B?!

Question:

How can I find out where/how I got Hepatits B?

If I got it from a piercing parlor, am I able to sue them? How can I prove that I got from there, if I did?

Answers:

It is unlikely you'll be able to find out how/where you got hep b. You may have been infected recently or you may have had it for awhile. Hep B is highly sexually transmitted, as well as through blood to blood transmission. Tattoos & piercings are a risk factor, as well as having more than one sexual partner (not at a time, but in your life), IV drug use even if only once, sharing razors or toothbrushes with someone who is infected, etc. I would now focus your energy on learning about the disease and what you need to do to treat it.
It is possible if you've only recently become infected, that you may clear the virus spontaneously. 80% of the people who become infected will clear it on their own (except for babies, 90% go on to have a life long infection). Hepatitis B can be dangerous if ignored. The best thing you can do is to educate yourself about this disease & use protection during sex so you don't infect others. It is not casually transmitted (kissing, drinking out of other people's cups, coughing, sneezing, etc). Don't be frightened off by misinformation & negativity. I've seen many, many people over the years of my involvement with our support group clear the virus on treatment. The best allies you can have on your side are education and a positive attitude.
Best wishes to you.
