I have sensitive skin, would I be prone to herpes?!

Question: I have sensitive skin, would I be prone to herpes?
REALLY sensitive skin, when I blush my entire face turns red. I sometimes blotch out down my neck and chest. I turn red so easily and even get marks when I eat fruit.

My ex has cold sores but never had one while I was with him. He gave me oral quite a few times...that was 6 months ago. I haven't had any symptoms...yet...so would that mean it's dormant?Keeping in mind, I am highly stressed 70% of the time and breakouts are supposed to show up during stress. Wouldn't this plus the fact that I have sensitive skin mean that I should've had an outbreak of herpes by now? And that would mean I don't have herpes...? (Havent been tested yet)

Answers:

Having sensitive skin doesn't make you any more or less likely to get herpes. If he gave you oral sex while he had a cold sore then you have a higher chance of contracting herpes and you wouldn't for sure contract it. If he didn't have a break out while you were together then you wouldn't have a big chance of getting it. You can escape getting herpes from your partner, it's not 100 percent passed on all the time.
Stress is a very common trigger of break outs, you can also get break outs when you're immune system is lowered or run down. You most likely would have had a break out by now, symptoms usually take about 3-30 days to show up. Keep an eye on things down there, if any thing suspicious looking occurs then see a doctor and have them test you for herpes. Some times doctors don't want to test you if you don't have a break out or symptoms.

Its impossible to answer your question based on the possibility of exposure. Without experiencing symptoms guessing (one way or the other) would be irresponsible. Getting tested is the only sure way of diagnosing HSV. Remember that test results will not tell you when or how you were infected. Your ex may not have transmitted it to you and you'll never know for sure unless you were tested prior to entering a relationship with this person.

Another reminder is that testing for HSV is not included on STD screening panels. You must asked to be specifically tested for the virus.

I hope this helps.
