Bleedding gums, early symptom of HIV infection?!

Question:

Bleedding gums, early symptom of HIV infection?

I had a low risk exposure and after 2 months have bleeding gums, ie in the morning when i spit i see blood mixed with saliva and after 4 to 5 spits the blood stops.
Is this just a bleeding gum problem or a early symptom of HIV infection ( after the low risk exposure I had light fever, headache and yeast like infection on my genitals which is gone now).
I got tested for HIV after 3 weeks of exposure with negative results

Answers:

Symptoms or lack of symptoms mean NOTHING when it comes to HIV. Most of people who seroconverted had no symptoms at all. You have mentioned encountering a "low risk" sexual exposure, and you did not mention the type of act which would help to determine the degree of risk.

Acute HIV Infection, however, appear -when they ever do it- in 2 weeks - 1 months after a potential exposure, and lack of symptoms would not mean that one is negative, or positive. Only ELISA test being taken after 13 weeks of a potential exposure would give a conclusive result. While most newly infected people seroconvert in 6 weeks, in rare cases of immunosupression i.e. IV drug users, seroconversion may take place after 13 weeks, and therefore a negative result after 13 weeks is conclusive.

Your 3 weeks negative result is not likely to change acording to your satement "low risk exposure", but you still have to test again at 13 weeks.

It is understandable how panicking you are now. Please try to utilize the 13 weeks period in educating yourself more about the virus, and if you found that your fears are going way out of your control, you can take Prozac or better Zoloft (1 tablet / day) + Xanax 2 mg. when needed.

Best of luck.
