It indicates serious urinary tract infection with a micro organism called Staphylococcus aureus.
It is resistant to many antibiotics commonly used and has tendency to persist / recur.
Of the two drugs cefuroxime is safer/ less harmful .
Clindamycin can give rise to Pseudo membranous entero colitis causing intractable diarrhoea or loose motions.
The course of antibiiotic should be atleast for ten days and should be correlated by family physician with symptoms and repeated urine examinations.
He should also take plenty of water, in litres, with Alkaline citrate lotion as most of infection would get washed away.
Neglected this can lead to Glomerulo nephritis and serious consequences/ complications and multi systemic failures.
