Ok so i think I have hayfever.....?!

Question:

Ok so i think I have hayfever.....?

I have narrowed it down to dust....

how much does it cost to go to an allergist? and how much do allergy shots cost?

Answers:

Hayfever is caused by pollens of specific seasonal plants symptoms would occur during the spring and summer months.

If you suspect a dust allergy, then your symptoms would be present all year long and they would be worse indoors.

The cost of seeing an allergist and shots may be covered by insurance. If not then shop around as fees can vary from doctor to doctor. Also keep in mind that some doctors are better than others, so check out reputation and experience which may account for price differences. Generally the allergist works with his/her own preferred supplier of serum so it is more difficult to shop around for this. However, the administration of the shots can be done by a family doctor or clinic which could be cheaper than the allergist's office.

If you think you have a dust allergy, there are things you can do other than shots. Replace carpeting with hardwood floors (or tiles/lino). If this is too costly then do just the bedroom. Replace drapes with non-fabric blinds which can be dusted. Get allergen tight mattress/pillow covers. Use an HEPA air cleaner. If you have furnace heating get a good filter and air vent filters.
