Answers:

Hepatitis C exhibits extrahepatic manifestations, meaning symptoms above and beyond liver damage. However, it sounds like your symptoms are pretty typical of gallbladder symptoms. It bothers me,though, that your doctor's office doesn't return your calls. I would tell the doctor; he may not be aware that people on his staff are dropping the ball. As for your pain, Stephanie is right, it could be from an inflamed liver, as well as the gallbladder. The liver doesn't have nerve cells in it, but the sac that encapsulates the liver does, and when there is inflammation and swelling, it will stretch and cause discomfort.
Also, the doctor must do pre-op labwork, such as PTT (I think that's what Stephanie was trying to say- Prothrombin time) that's the test that makes sure your blood is clotting at an appropriate rate so you dont' bleed to death during surgery. This is a routine test that is always done prior to surgery. Patient that might be in decompensation (end stage liver disease) might not be able to undergo surgery due to the PTT time, but most others are OK.
By the way, I did the treatment, too. 7 years ago and have been virus free since 2000. Life is good. You may want to consider treatment, it could actually work. Best wishes to you.
