Currently, there's no cure, other than transplants. Generally it's easier to manage diabetes than to manage a transplant, and diabetics aren't given transplants solely because they're diabetic. If a diabetic person needs a new heart or lung, though, then they might receive a new pancreas at the same time, since they'd have to deal with the transplant problems anyway.

There have been some very promising studies done with stem cells, and this might result in a cure. There are also any number of people who hold weird beliefs about vegan diets (which won't cure diabetes). And, of course, there are a lot of snake oil salesmen who will promise you that THEIR brand of snake oil will cure/reverse your diabetes.

There is no cure for diabetes.

However, occasionally someone with Type 2 diabetes can improve matters by losing weight and exercising. They may even be able to improve their blood sugars enough that they don't need medication and can manage the diabetes with diet and exercise alone. But that is because most Type 2 diabetics are still producing at least some insulin.

Type 1 diabetes produce little or no insulin because the insulin-producing beta-islet cells of the pancreas have been destroyed by an autoimmune process. Type 1 diabetics must use insulin to control their blood sugars.

Some day, there may be a cure for diabetes using stem cell transplants to "regenerate" new insulin producing cells in the pancreas of the diabetic. But we are still years away from this possibility.

So anyone who tells you there is a "cure" for diabetes is either misinformed or perhaps trying to sell some pricey "magical" supplement or other woo.

No cure is available for either.
However - SOME people with type 2 diabetes do can control their blood sugar level with exercise and diet and don't need mediction. SOME people with type 2 start getting normal blood sugar readings following gastric bypass surgery or after significant weight loss.
Type 1 is a whole different thing. There is a procedure called the "Edmonton protocol" in which a person receives insulin producing cells from a donor and then they don't have to take insulin any more. Those folks then need to take anti-rejection medication. The anti-rejection medication has lots of unpleasant side effects so this procedure isn't common. It's not really a cure, it's just a different treatment. www.jdrf.org has info about the most current research available on a cure for type 1.

there is NO CURE for either disease. Anyone who tells you otherwise is BADLY misinformed.

Type 1 Diabetes is caused by the FAILURe of an internal organ called the Pancreas. When this organ stops producing insulin, you MUST have injections or you will die.

The ONLY "cure" for a failed pancreas is a transplant. but pancreas transplants are the most delicate of all transplants, and most pancreas transplants fail, sometime killing the patient. Since diabetes is so easily treated with diet and medication, most doctors will NOT do a transplant unless the patient is dying of other diabetes related causes.

There are several experiments going on right now that MIGHT cure diabetes, but these experiments needs another 15-20 YEARS before they will be available to the public.

Type 2 Diabetes is a LIFESTYLE disease -- caused by being overweight. in MOST cases it can be controlled through diet and exercise. built it is NOT cured! if you stop watching your diet and getting the right exercise, IT WILL COME BACK!

After many years, most Type 2 Diabetics find that their pancreas has failed, and then they become Type 1 Diabetics. This means that they then need insulin injections, too.

There are no known cure for type-1 diabetes. however researchers say that stem cells may be a cure for type -2 diabetes. PreDiabetes can be cured by taking the right diet and exercise thus living a healthy life style. Certain herbs like cassia arriculata can be used to control blood sugar levels and secrete good insulin. Cure is available for prediabetes ( FBs less than 140 and RBS below 240) by a healthy life style and if diagnosed early
