Question: Heart murmur and pregnancy?
Before I got pregnant, my heart murmur was faint and hardly noticeable..now that I'm prego, it's loud. Is this normal?

Absolutely. During pregnancy your blood volume increases massively and your heart has to work harder to perfuse your body and the placenta and baby. With the extra blood volume and increase in workload even a person without a murmur can develop extra heart sounds. It will definitely make any pre-existing murmur louder.

If you are getting symptoms of breathlessness without much exertion or fainting, extreme tiredness or chest pain you need to see your doctor.
