What causes dark circles under my eyes and is there anyway to get rid of them.?
I know lack of sleep and allergies can cause them but I have these dark circles all of the time. I am middle aged and do have some health problems and am on a number of medications but I have had these dark circles for most of my life and I would love to get rid of them.

They can be, as you mentioned, because of lack of sleep, but they're also hereditary, and can be caused by mal nutrition & lack of hydration.
The key to keeping the dark circles to a minimum, if you've inherited them or not, is to drink plenty of water (the rule of thumb is to drink 1/2 your body weight in oz), proper nutrition/diet, and exercise, as well as getting plenty of rest.
