HIV is treatable but incurable. It is treated with antiretroviral therapy which slows down the replication of the virus and allows your body to produce new CD4 cells. It's always a good idea to get tested because you can have HIV for years without having a single symptom and you can pass it on during this time without even knowing it. I go to my regular doctor for testing. If you are comfortable enough with your GP to have them do it, I suggest having it done by them. HIV testing at your GPs office is generally not confidential, so if you want a confidential test done visit www.hivtest.org and put in your zip code, it will give you a list of free, confidential testing sites in your area. It will also list which methods of testing they use so you can decide for yourself how you want to have the test done.
im curious about any STD because they are soooo easy to contract.. and sometimes you wont even know you had one.
the main thing you need to know about HIV is anyone can get it.
weither its your first time having sex or your 12th.
using a condom helps protect you, but there is no 100% way not to get it because condoms are only 50% fail proof.

HIV is not curable and if contracted the infected person will eventually die if HIV turns into AIDS
HIV itself will not kill you, all HIV does it weaken your immune system and strip your T Helper cells(im pretty sure thats correct) which are the cells that alert your immune system to fight off infections.
if you have HIV, you can die from something as simple as a cold because your body would be to weak to fight it off.
the best way NOT to get HIV is to make sure your partner is clean, and also get tested yourself every 6 months.
go get a blood test, its treatable,not curable.
