How does a person know if they truly have a disorder or phobia?!

Question:

How does a person know if they truly have a disorder or phobia?

i mean, a lot of people on here are so quick to blame peoples problems on actual diseases that have been made up by doctor's. whose to say that everyone suffers from the same feelings and that it should be classified as something specific. aren't we all different?

im just saying this becuase for a while i thought i had some type of disorder but now looking back, nothing was wrong with me but so many people and doctor's are so quick to act like they KNOW when they obviously don't becuase they have never been through it right?

anyone else feel this way?

Answers:

i know what you mean. most doctors are very quick to diagnose something being wrong with you. it brings them more business.

in fact, most disorders now are just fancy names for what were just annoying traits 50 years ago.

as far as phobias... those arent something that can really be diagnosed. thats something that you just have to realize yourself. a phobia wouldnt necessarily be any strong fear of something. theres nothing wrong with a healthy fear. for example, if i was in front of a lion, i would have a fear of him eating me. that is just a healthy respect. a phobia would be an unjustified fear of something. like heights, for example. if you are on a balcony, you are safe. but if you have a phobia of heights, then you wont go anywhere near that balcony.

so phobias are something that you need to determine yourself. not everyone has one, but it wouldnt be uncommon if you did have one.
