It's typical of smokers to react the way you have. I did say I was a smoker so I know what it's like, to say it's the same as alcohol is ridiculous, if I drink in front of you you don't inhale the alcohol fumes or go home smelling of alochol, and yes I do wash my clothes when they don't smell of nicotine, but I don't have my coat cleaned every time I go out!!!!

It is interesting to watch how some smokers have reacted to your question...I think alot of it is the addiction talking... you are asking them not to do something that they feel they have to do and this get's an immediate barrier... like telling someone they can't have something, and suddenly they really want it.
All they are being asked to do is walk outside the door to have a cigarrette and suddenly human rights are being violated, but breathing this smoke over people (adults and chidren alike) seems to be ok with them.
Since the announcement of the smoking ban a lot of my friends are trying to quit and i really admire them for this... many many smokers will admit that they don't want to smoke anymore because it is too expensive, or because they don't like the hold it has over them, and this ban gives them the excuse to cut down and quit.. Whereas in the past the non-smokers have had to go out of their way to avoid the smoke, now the smokers will have to make the effort to take their smoke elsewhere..
I don't think this is unfair...
