Can marijuana effect a type-1 diabetic badly?!

Question: Can marijuana effect a type-1 diabetic badly?
I was diagnose with type-1 diabetes when I was about 13, maybe 12. I'm not an occasional pot smoker at all and have only tried it twice. Today being my second time. It was the worst time of my life. I was with friends and we smoked a blunt of dro. I'm not sure if they even knew I was diabetic because I don't like sharing that with certain people and I'm an idiot like that. Well I've come to learn that supposedly when you smoke marijuana you feel better, like you forget about reality for a little while so since I'm constantly stressing out I thought it couldn't hurt. I was on my way home right after and by the time I was home I already thought I was dying and had to plan out what I was going to say to my mom because she will be very dissapointed in me. At first when I walked in I didn't say a single thing but mothers do know best and right away she knew that I had smoked. I felt like I was slowly dying. My skin was turning really cold (or maybe it was just me imagining it) and I thought I was going cross-eyed because my vision was crossing. I started seeing in tunnel vision. I felt as if my nerve-endings were slowly being damaged because I couldn't feel my legs.I couldn't hear quite the same and it felt as if I was leaving my body (Need I remind you I didn't really know if I was high or not because I'm a stranger to the effects of marijuana) I have never been so frightened in my life. I had my mom take me to the emergency room for the second time, and by the time I got there the marijuana had worn off almost completely. And I could hear myself and realized I sounded so crazy. Now I'm perfectly fine and not dead. Never doing that ever again. This isn't really a question but I'm just wondering if this has ever happened to anyone other than me and if it's normal or not?

Answers:

Drugs and alcohol aren't good for people with diabetes - they're bad for everyone but esp for us. They can prevent your liver releasing glucose during a night hypo. They can accelerate the onset of complications. It's gr8 that you're not gonna do it again - don't let anyone pressure you into it - don't be embarrassed to say that you can't because you have diabetes, or just say no because you don't want to. When I was 16 I was homeless and all my friends did drugs - some hard drugs too - but they always respected me more because I always said no - most of them are dead now, one little word probably saved my life. Always be polite about it and respect their decisions that they make for themselves, but if they don't respect your decision that you make for yourself then they are not real friends and you should ditch them! Glad you're feeling better :) xx

drugs and diabetes are not a good mix!

Well, I was going to say that weed usually gives people the munchies which will make you want to eat things you're not supposed to and therefore your BG will be too high but I've never heard of diabetes making someone having a bad trip like this. It actually makes me wonder if that weed was ONLY weed or if it was maybe laced with another more potent drug that made you trip worse than weed alone would have?
