Could it be mouth cancer?!

Question: Could it be mouth cancer?
I am 22 years old and have chewed tobacco since i was 17.With in the last year i have been getting alot of cold sores,like within 2 days of each other and they stay along time.sometimes ill get 3 or 4 at once.If i chew while i have a cold sore will that turn into cancer?I have tried to quit but i cant.

Answers:

This probably isn't cancer, just more a weakening of the tissue in your mouth. Now this isn't to say that it can't be cancer or it won't become cancer but you need to see a doctor about this and find options to try and quit chewing.

Common symptoms of oral cancer:

* Swellings/thickenings, lumps or bumps, rough spots/crusts/or eroded areas on the lips, gums, or other areas inside the mouth.

* The development of velvety white, red, or speckled (white and red) patches in the mouth.

* Unexplained bleeding in the mouth.

* Unexplained numbness, loss of feeling, or pain/tenderness in any area of the face, mouth, or neck.

* Persistent sores on the face, neck, or mouth that bleed easily and do not heal within 2 weeks.

* A soreness or feeling that something is caught in the back of the throat.

* Difficulty chewing or swallowing, speaking, or moving the jaw or tongue.

* Hoarseness, chronic sore throat, or change in voice.

* Ear pain.

* A change in the way your teeth or dentures fit together.

* Dramatic weight loss.
