A good diet for a person who has a serious panic disorder?!

Question: A good diet for a person who has a serious panic disorder?
Im a 27 yr old male, and have been suffering from panic attacks since i was 7. I also have OCD and Im a very shy person. The past couple of months they have been really bad, having about 7 or 8 a day when Im at work which never used to happen. I had a really bad one on Thurs and had to go to the ER. They prescribed zoloft but I dont wanna take it. My psychologist has been pushing me to get on medicine but i refuse cause i know i can beat this without all of that. My main concern is that I have a child on the way that will be here in a couple of months and I would never want him to be with me while Im having a panic attack, especially if im driving. So i have been cutting out all the caffeine and sugar, exercising daily, and getting 6-7 hrs of sleep a night and of course praying alot. So I was wondering if anybody knows what is good to eat and very bad to eat? Or a good diet for this torturing condition, I would highly appreciate it.

I also take a Super B-complex pill everday and am using bach rescue remedy when needed.

Answers:

Steer clear of high fructose corn syrup AT ALL COSTS. But you have already cut out the sugar so you know that one. Have you been tested for diabetes or hypoglycemia? Shrinks don't always think to check in my experience.

Holy basil tea is excellent is calming the nerves among other health benefits. It gives you an uplifted feeling too. Green tea also has a calming effect too believe it or not.

Walking from about 20 minutes or more a few times a week helps A LOT.

You can also get your heart rate down when panicking searching for breathing techniques online.

Good luck!

I have had panic attacks since i was 7 and i have been on a TON of medication for them. I am now medication and panic attack free at the same time!

There are no known vitamins/supplements/sugar free diet to treat panic attacks. You need to take the medication recommended (it takes an average of 12 weeks to become fully effective so you need to stop wasting time on this) and continue with the counseling. Medication and counseling are the known methods of treating this disorder and without both, you are probably not going to see much improvement. Since your symptoms are getting worse, obviously what you are currently doing is not working and maybe you need to listen to your psychologist. You need to do this for the sake of your new baby and your wife.
