Ringworm is not actually caused by any worms. It's a fungal infection [kind of like athletes foot].
Antifungal cream is the usual treatment. If you have a bad case or the creams don't work the doctor can prescribe you antifungal pills or other medication but usually over the counter cream like lotrimin or tinactin [miconazole or clotrimazole creams] will work pretty quickly. Ask the pharmacist at any drugstore to recommend one?
I guess the prescription would probably be fastest but isn't always necessary.
