What can help acid reflux besides Nexium?!

Question:

What can help acid reflux besides Nexium?

I take two tablets of Nexium daily plus one Zantac 75 but I still have indigestion most of the time. My doctor tells me to stop drinking and eating certain foods, which I try to do. Has anybody out there found how to reduce the feelings of acid reflux/indigestion? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Answers:

The answer to this depends on your age and general health. This indigestion--is it diagnosd as GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease, also called reflux)?
1. Indigestion-type symptoms can be sign of cardiac problems.
2. Yes, drinking and eating certain foods can exacerbate reflux. Sorry, but you must do as your physician directs on this.
3. Response to GERD medications is highly individual. If the Nexium and Zantac don't work well (if this is GERD, you should have had some relief in 2 weeks), you may want to try a different medication. AcipHex worked for me.
4. If you are not diagnosed with GERD, your indigestion may have another cause. It may have another cause anyway! An interesting site (though not for hypochondriacs) is www.wrongdiagnosis.com. My healthcare students use it a log. Read about indigestion at http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/symptoms/i...
