Does my son need to go to the doctor?!


Question:

Does my son need to go to the doctor?

My son was walking in our neighborhood and he found a syringe laying on the ground but he didnt know what it was.He picked it up but didnt touch the bottom of it he only touched close to the top with two fingers than he putted it back down.He had dead skin that was peeling but it wasnt a entry way to the blood.Do you think that he should she a docter.

He didnt touch the injection part and after he was done he washed his hands really good for five mins.

Answers:

The only time to worry when in contact with such items is when the mucous membranes or other bodily fluids come in contact. Dead skin is okay because there is no entry way into the body.Underneath dead skin is new skin and SKIN serves as a barrier. I hope he washed his hands vigorously immediately after.

The one thing to watch for is if he develops a rash in that area. Skin infections with Staph. aureaus (a bacteria) are possible. Then u would have to take him to the doctor.
