Hi there,

Well, if you fell asleep during school you might want to do some homework now! Reading up on STDs, how they are spread and how you can protect yourself could help reduce or eliminate future needless worrying.

Now regarding Gonorrhea, it is a bacterial infection of the urethra in men and the urethra, cervix, or both in women. Gonorrhea can also infect the rectum, anus, throat, pelvic organs, and rarely, the conjunctiva, which is the membrane that lines the eyelid and eye surface. It is caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae which can be spread during vaginal, anal, or oral sex with an infected partner. Gonorrhea can be transmitted any time by an infected person, whether or not symptoms are present. An infected person is contagious until he or she has been treated.

With regards to Syphilis, it is caused by a type of bacterium (Treponema pallidum) that usually enters the body through the mucous membranes. An infected person can pass the disease to others (is contagious) whenever a sore or a rash is present. Anyone who comes into close physical contact with a person who has syphilis can develop it. You don't have to have sexual intercourse - exposure can result from close contact with an infected person's genitals, mouth, or rectum.

So ya, she could have still pased one or both to you through the oral sex. Your best bet is to go see your doctor and discuss your concerns with him. Chances are he will order the blood tests required just to make sure if you have been infected or not. Remember, not all people experience symptoms and so the only way to know for certain is to get tested for them.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.
