Can a 16 yr old get throat cancer?!

Question: Can a 16 yr old get throat cancer?
I'm a 16 yr old male and I am very scared that I have throat cancer, I smoke 3 to 7 cigerattes a day and I've been smoking for about 6 months now, my throat feels pretty heavy right under my Adams apple, I do not have trouble swallowing at all, no hoarseness of voice, no blood in mucus, the only lump I think i have is the one behind my adams apple which is scaring me completely, I noticed it and felt it the first day it came out, even if I do have cancer I'm just worried about how my family would feel, I'm soooooo scared please any help, and I never heard of a 16 year old getting throat cancer

Wow, nothing but useless answers. Here is the answer you need bro-You dont have any problems that could lead suspicion to cancer, 6 months of smoking is not enough to cause cancer, we all have lymphnodes in our necks, the area you described is exactly where 2 are located and I do have the same lump you do so therefore you are 100% fine. I dont smoke but hey we are both guys with adams apples with lymphnodes behind them which is normal. If you'd like to see a doctor just for peace of mind go for it. It will help you realize more you're ok.

Since tobacco is carcinogenic, it is prudent to stop smoking totally and prevent further damage to Ur body constitution.
Ur doubt is baseless with a little or no knowledge of cancer.
U may see a local homoeopath for Ur enlarged Tonsillitis. Or U may ask Ur parents to examine, with the help of a torch/cell-light, Ur mouth widely opened and observe Ur tonsils are enlarged/infected.
Nothing to be panic @ this stage.

It may occur rarely. Some young people are very sensitive to the many cancer causing chemical agents in tobacco. Best advice - see your primary care doctor. He or she will advise if you need to see an ENT surgeon for a biopsy.

Anybody at any age can develop cancer. It's sort of rare, but not impossible. I've heard of 2 year olds getting cancer. I don't think you have cancer, I think your throat is irritated from all the smoking. Try to seek help to quit.

hm... could be.. but then again i know some people who have been smoking longer than you and have NO throat cancer.
It doesn't sound much like throat cancer. how long have you had that lump? over a week? i'd get it checked to be on the safe side.

ANYONE can get cancer, even a newborn baby. I doubt you have cancer if you've only been smoking 6 months, but it's not impossible. You'd better get it checked out.
