Is it true?!

Question:

Is it true?

is it true that if you have been exposed to hiv that there is a drug that if taken soon after exposure can reduce your risks of contracting the virus?

Answers:

Yes it's true; there is PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) treatment for HIV. It is a mixed cocktail of medicines best started within an hour of possible exposure, and you have to take the meds for 4 weeks. It's not 100% effective though, and the meds cause a whole bunch of unpleasant side effects
