my cousin needed a 2nd kidney transplant a few years ago and all the family said they would be willing to be tested ad donors, my cousin barred us from doing that as he didn't want to put us at risk. But we felt that at least we tried and it was my cousins decision at the end of the day.
If the recipient agrees to you being tested their is no guarantee you will be a match, you would firstly need a blood test to see if you are a blood match - parents, siblings and children are most likely to be a match but it's no unheard of for partners and friends to be excellent matches.
