Why is my skin on my face swelling? And how can I stop it?!

Question: Why is my skin on my face swelling? And how can I stop it?
My face felt a little dry last night before I went to bed so I put some of the lotion that I've been using for about a year, then I went to sleep. I woke up for school and my face felt bumpy from the nose down. I put makeup over it to hide it because it was very red, and I went to school. I got home at about 1:30, and immediately took off my makeup because my skin was burning and itching. I looked up ways to stop the redness and itching so I put an ice pack on the bottom half of my face and fell asleep.

I woke up about an hour later, my face still red and burning, so my sister gave me a benadryll but if anything, my face is just burning and itching even more.

What do I do? My parents left on a trip today some my grandma is staying with my sister and I, and I don't want to worry her.

I read that hair dye could cause an itchy or red scalp, and I dyed my hair on Monday night, but I don't know why it would affect the bottom half of my face and not my scalp. I also got new sheets over the weekend and I didn't wash them before I put them on my bed. Could that be the reason? Otherwise, my daily routines have not changed.

Thank you for your help!

Answers:

Definitely an allergic reaction. You need to go to the drugstore and get an antihistamine and take it before bed as it will make you drowsy.
